Cesar Markovic's father, former pro player, coach, passes away



Miodrag Markovic, who played professionally in Europe and South America and who coached several amateur teams, passed away on Friday. He was 80.

Markovic is the father of New Jersey Institute of Technology men's soccer coach Cesar Markovic.

Born in Montenegro, Miodrag Markovic played in the former Yugoslavia and Bolivia before he turned to coaching.

He directed teams in Bolivia, Ecuador and the United States.

Markovic directed Ukrainian Nationals, Eintracht, Dalmatinac, Brooklyn Italians and Philadelphia in the old American Soccer League. Many soccer observers considered him one of the best coaches of his time.
