ON SCHEDULE
Closing in on RB Park's concrete phase

New York -- Red Bulls managing director Marc de Grandpre said Tuesday that Red Bull Park in Harrison, N.J. is on schedule to be completed by next year.

"If everything goes according to plan, we're still on schedule for an '09 opening," he told the media contingent at Red Bulls media day in downtown Manhattan.

De Grandpre said that Phase One for the 25,000-seat soccer-specific stadium was on schedule and that 2,000 of the 3,200 pilings have been driven into the ground.

"We'll be able to start pouring concrete in two weeks," he said.

In a private interview, de Grandpre said the deal with the Township of Hanover for the Red Bulls' training center had not been completed yet.

"We're trying to close the deal," he said.

If there is a delay, the training center, which is supposed to be completed by December, could open in January 2009 and be ready for next season.

The facility will house the team's training facility and offices.

De Grandpre added that the club surpassed last year's total of ticket revenues on March 6 and that the 2007 season ticket total was surpassed last week.

As per company policy, de Grandpre would not talk about specific numbers.

In an unrelated matter, MSG will announce Red Bulls road games from the network's midtown offices, as it did last season, according to sources close to the team.
