Montclair, N.J. -- Juan Pablo Angel is looking forward to stepping onto what he hears is arguably the best pitch in Major League Soccer in Pizza Hut Park.
But the Red Bulls forward might be held out of Saturday night's game at F.C. Dallas because of a nagging left hamstring strain.
"I’m still 50-50, trying to get myself right for the game," Angel said after Wednesday’s training session. "I had this even before the game against Columbus and I’m desperate to get myself back in the squad. As of now, it’s just touch and go."
Angel suffered the injury about two weeks ago, but played the entire 90 minutes and missed a second-half penalty kick in the Red Bulls' season-opening 2-0 victory against the Columbus Crew at Giants Stadium last Saturday.
But the team's leading goal-scorer last season (19 goals in 24 matches), was held out of training Wednesday and could be in danger of missing his first league game since joining the Red Bulls on a free transfer from Aston Villa last year.
"As far as I know, I’m planning the game without him," Red Bulls coach Juan Carlos Osorio said.
If Angel can't play, Jozy Altidore, who missed Saturday's game with a bruised knee, would partner with Oscar Echeverry up front.
Since Angel joined the team last season, Altidore has never been the main man up front.
