The Red Bulls' anemic attendance figures certainly will get a huge boost from the presence of David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy this Saturday.
Through seven home games this MLS season, the Red Bulls are averaging only 13,525 (from a total of 94,767), which ranks them 12th out of the 14 teams.
Through Monday morning, more than 40,000 tickets have been sold for Saturday's 6:30 p.m. game at Giants Stadium. On the safe side, if you had 40K to the official attendance figures and do the proper math, the Red Bulls will average at least 16,750.
That will mean a leap from the bottom to the top of the league's attendance leaders. The Red Bulls would trail only the Galaxy (25,513) and D.C. United (20,817).
The Kansas City Wizards (9,483) and Columbus Crew (12,881) are the bottom two clubs.
In the five road matches in which Beckham has played, the Galaxy has helped attract 142,466, an average of 28,493 per match.
Beckham missed the Galaxy's 2-0 loss at Toronto FC May 31 because he was on international duty with the English National Team.
The five Beckham road matches to date:
* March 30 -- Colorado Rapids 4, Galaxy 0 (18,713)
* May 3 -- Galaxy 2, Real Salt Lake 2 (25,571)
* May 18 -- Galaxy 5, FC Dallas 1 (22,331)
* June 14 -- Galaxy 3, San Jose Earthquakes 0 (39,872)
