CHAMPIONS COACHES CLINIC
At Mohegan Sun Feb. 25-27

Uncasville, Conn. -- Coaches from across the United States will attend the eighth annual Soccer Champions Coaches’ Clinic at the Mohegan Sun here Feb. 25-27.

Led by World Cup champion and Olympic gold medal wining coach Tony DiCicco and NCAA Division I championship coach Ray Reid, this multi-day clinic for soccer coaches of all levels will feature some of the world’s top soccer minds, including two-time MLS Champion Houston Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear and University of North Carolina women's coach Anson Dorrance.

A soccer field will be constructed in the Mohegan Sun Convention Center, enabling the presenters to conduct large-scale field demonstrations with players from regional youth teams. A series of break-out sessions will be held covering topics such as developing strong team leaders, injury prevention techniques, and building a club curriculum.

“The Soccer Champions Coaches’ Clinic at Mohegan Sun is a must-attend event for soccer coaches of all levels,” Reid said. “Youth coaches, high school coaches, college coaches – all will learn cutting-edge techniques from these top soccer clinicians.”

Coaches can earn their E Certificates (through the event’s partnership with the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association) and will become National Soccer Coaches Association of America members (this applies to new NSCAA members only). A License coaches can earn two U.S. Soccer Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Other presenters include:

* Emma Hayes, Chicago Red Stars coach and former Academy Director of England’s Arsenal Football Club

* Thomas Rongen, U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team coach and MLS Cup champion coach (1999)

* Chris West, well-known strength and conditioning expert

* Tom Goodman, past U.S. Youth Soccer national director of coaching education a current Massachusetts Youth Soccer director of training and evaluation

* Laurie Pells George, goalkeeping expert and University of Maryland Women’s coach

"I am extremely proud of the 2010 Soccer Champions Coaches’ Clinic at Mohegan Sun,” said DiCicco, who coaches the Boston Breakers (Women's Professional Soccer). “To compile a group of world-class coaches with this pedigree for three days in one place is unique and special."

The cost of registration is $159 per coach for advance registration (by Feb. 18) and $179 per coach at the door, which includes a free gift bag for event registrants, courtesy of adidas. Special rates are available for groups of five or more.
