ON THE PITCH Donovan, Howard start in Merseyside derby
LIVERPOOL, England -- As expected, U.S. internationals Landon Donovan and Tim Howard were in the Everton FC starting lineup for its Merseyside derby encounter vs. Liverpool on Saturday.
Donovan, a midfielder on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, was participating in his first derby at Anfield in this great English Premier League rivalry.
Howard, a former MetroStars goalkeeper, is accustomed to the head-to-head clashes of the city rivals.
Donovan lined up in midfield with Marouane Fellaini, Leon Osman, Steven Pienaar and Tim Cahill.
