TOUGH INJURY
Dislocated shoulder hurts Spector's WC chances

Charlton Athletic defender Jonathan Spector dislocated a shoulder on Monday night, which could very well be big blow to his chances of earning a spot on the U.S. World Cup roster.

Spector, regarded as a long shot to make the team, was hurt when he fell awkwardly after a collision with Portsmouth's Benjani Mwaruwari during Monday night's Premier League game. He was taken off on a stretcher in the 39th minute. Charlton won the game, 2-1.

"Spector popped his shoulder out -- he went straight to hospital," Charlton coach Alan Curbishley was quoted on the team's website.

Spector, 20, joined Charlton on a one-year loan from Manchester United last July.
