MLS wants to sell you more jerseys

Major League Soccer wants to sell you more replica jerseys, and is rolling out an annual program aimed at doing just that.

The new annual platform, “Jersey Week,” will roll out in league cities February 25-28, with a national launch event taking place in New York on February 25.

Every year's Jersey Week will feature a new theme, with this years' theme, “Jersey as Art,” focusing on the art and detail that goes into the making of MLS jerseys by the league's official supplier, adidas.

“Soccer supporters are extremely passionate about everything involving their club,” said Maribeth Towers, senior vice president of consumer products for MLS. “But the jersey might be first and foremost. It is the crest that is closest to their heart. Jersey Week will celebrate the soccer jersey. Every stitch, every minor detail, every shade is designed in collaboration between the club and our partner at adidas. We’re excited to unveil Jersey Week for our supporters.”

Twelve MLS clubs will unveil at least one new jersey in 2013. Not content with rolling out a new jersey ever few years starting in 2014, all 19 MLS clubs will unveil at least one new jersey (home, away or third kit) every single year.

Sponsor Deals
The Harrisburg City Islanders have renewed a partnership agreement with Arlington Orthopaedic Group, providing the team’s players year-round orthopaedic treatment and game day professional coverage. Arlington Orthopaedic has been the official orthopaedic group of the City Islanders since 2004. The Arlington Orthopaedic logo will be placed on the lower back panel of all Harrisburg City Islanders Pro and Youth Academy Jerseys for the 2013 season.

Mossy Automotive Group has been named San Diego Boca's Official Team Automotive partner for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Under the Mossy Automotive Group umbrella, BMW, Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota, Scion and Honda of San Diego will all participate in sponsorship activities with the team.

Broadcast Deals
The Houston Dynamo have entered into an agreement designating Mega TV (KTBU Channel 55) as its official Spanish-language TV partner.

Sporting Kansas City extended their broadcast agreement with Sports Radio 810 WHB for two seasons, meaning that the station will continue as the official radio partner of Sporting Kansas City through the 2014 season.
