Rockville native Dunn ACC defensive player of the year
GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina junior Crystal Dunn, a native of Rockville, NY has been named the Atlantic Coast conference Defensive Player of the Year of the second time.
After returning to Chapel Hill from helping the United States to the 2012 FIFA Under-20 World Cup gold medal, Dunn started the next 11 games and helped the Tar Heel defense to three shutouts, all in ACC action, and yield a 0.71 goals against average. While leading the defense, Dunn also integrated herself on offense and registered three assists. Dunn was previously named the ACC Defensive Player of the year in 2009, her freshman year.
A member of Albertson Fury 91, Dunn was the BigAppleSoccer.com youth soccer player of the year in 2009.
