Monmouth's Tolentino with Filipino WNT

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University junior Karly Tolentino recently participated in a national team tryout for the Filipino Women’s National Soccer Team in Los Angeles from Nov. 17-22.

"The invitation and ability to try out for the Philippines’ National Team was an exhilarating experience," Tolentino said. "I was able to spend a week training with the team, working with great coaches, and learning more about my culture. I look forward to playing with the team in the future, representing the Philippines and Monmouth University."

Tolentino, a Rochester, N.Y. resident who joined the Hawks this past season, played in all 19 matches and attempted six shots.

“Karly was excited about the opportunity to participate in tryouts for the Filipino National Team," Monmouth coach Krissy Turner said. "She did an outstanding job and has been selected for future events to be held in 2013. It was a great experience for her to play with the top players from the Philippines.”

Monmouth, which finished the season 10-7-2, its seventh straight season with a double-digit victory total, advanced to its 15th Northeast Conference Tournament in November as second seed.
