HE'S A HOYA
Red Bull Academy's Muyl picks Georgetown
Red Bulls Academy forward Alex Muyl has decided to attend Georgetown University this fall.
Muyl was one of six Hoya recruits who signed National Letters of Intent, it was announced on Monday by head coach Brian Wiese.
"Alex is an exciting attacking player who we think can play in a few different roles for us," Wiese said. "He is good in attacking 1 v 1 situations, has the ability to combine and is driven to score goals."
A New York City resident, Muyl attended Bard High School Early College as well as spending a year at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School during his time with the U.S. National Team Residency Program.
He also has played with youth national teams for his age group for more than three years. Muyl was the captain of the U.S. Under-17 squad during Mondial Minimes in 2011 in Montaigu, France. This past fall, Muyl was the top scorer for the U-18 Red Bulls Academy team and he was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Boy’s Youth All-America team.
With the Red Bulls’ U-16 team, Muyl was the top scorer, leading the team to the national championship while scoring the game-winning goal in the final.
Muyl also enjoys playing basketball and spends his free time coaching soccer. He is ranked No. 17 overall by TopDrawerSoccer.com and No. 43 by CollegeSoccerNews.com.
