St. Francis Brooklyn College head coach Tom Giovatto has been named BigAppleSoccer.com men's college soccer coach of the year Sunday.

It was the second time that Giovatto earned that honor as he was selected men's coach of the year after the 2012 season.

Giovatto guided the Terriers (12-5-3), who did not allow a goal in conference and tournament play and finished 6-0-1 in the league to win its first Northeast Conference regular-season crown outright since 1997. The Terriers also won the NEC tournament, their third championship in the past four seasons. They were defeated in extratime by Dartmouth, 1-0, in the first round of the NCAA College Cup.

The St. Francis coaching staff has been named the men's Northeast region staff of the year for Division I schools by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

"I am very grateful and honored to be recognized for this award," Giovatto said about that honor. "This would not have been achieved without the hard work of my assistant coaches, players, and all our staff at St. Francis College."

"I am very happy for my staff. They are very dedicated to myself and the team and put in a lot of hours and hard work. We would not have had the success we had this season without them. I am very proud of them for receiving this award."
