Jan. 25, 2006 INSURANCE POLICY Kramer picked in USL First Division draft
If Danny Kramer doesn't get selected in Thursday's MLS Supplemental Draft, he has a pretty good insurance policy.
That's because Tuesday afternoon, the midfielder from Plainview, L.I. was picked by the Rochester Raging Rhinos in the USL First Division College Draft.
He was taken fifth overall after Rochester traded with Charleston for Dusty Hudock. Belmont defender John Paul Rodrigues was picked first overall by expansion side Miami FC.
Kramer, who played for the Brooklyn Knights in 2003 and 2004, led Duke with 10 goals in 2004 — including five game-winners. Last year, he started all 20 of his team’s games, scoring four goals and dishing out three assists.
A year after playing in the Final Four, the Blue Devils lost to Creighton in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
Kramer was the only local player selected in the two-round USL First Division College Draft.
