Columbia women lose to Yale, 2-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Columbia University women's soccer team saw its chances at an Ivy League championship slip away on as Kristen Forster's goal in the 87th minute broke a 1-1 deadlock and gave Yale a 2-1 victory over the Lions at Reese Stadium on Saturday night.

Despite winning the battle in shots, 11-7, and having numerous quality scoring opportunities over the course of the match, Columbia fell to 9-4-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the Ivy League.

Bulldogs goalkeeper Ayana Sumiyasu stood on her head all match and made seven stops, including TW diving SAVES on close-range shots. Junior Ashlin Yahr scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season in the 25th minute off a cross from classmate Lindsay Mushett.
