BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
Columbia women nip LIU, 1-0


NEW YORK, N.Y. – A goal in the waning minutes of regulation boosted the Columbia University women to a 1-0 victory over Long Island university at Columbia Soccer Stadium Stadium on Sunday.

Erin Falk broke through in the 82nd minute for the lions (2-40 over the Blackbirds (3-5).

Columbia’s Coleen Rizzo attempted a shot that was saved by junior goalkeeper Jennifer Bannon. The ball caromed back out to Falk, who deposited it into the back of the net from six yards.

Lions goalkeeper Lillian Klein made four saves. Bannon stopped three shots.

The Blackbirds host Fairleigh Dickinson in their Northeast Conference opener on Alumni Day at 4 p.m. Saturday.
