Senior captain Todd Sheridan scored the game-winner in the 70th minute to break a scoreless tie as the Stevens Institute of Technology men defeated York College, 2-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division III men’s tournament at the De Baun Athletic Complex Thursday night.

Vilsaint gives York explosive dimension
York College men's coach Linval Cunningham knows he is playing with "dynamite" when it comes to junior forward Elysee Vilsaint, and that's just fine with him. Vilsaint, the City University of New York Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament MVP, will lead York (12-7-0) into its NCAA Division III men's first-round game against Stevens Tech (15-3-1) in Hoboken, N.J. Thursday.

AFTER MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS
York men capture CUNYAC title, 1-0
It looks as though Elysee Vilsaint will finally get some sleep. York College's talented midfielder-forward said it was difficult to sleep after the Cardinals lost to Hunter College in a penalty-kick shootout in the City University of New York Athletic Conference final last year. "Oh man, I didn't sleep for like for a whole year because we lost in the final on penalty kicks," he said Saturday. "I've been thinking about that all year. I finally got it. Thank God." Well, Vilsaint can thank himself, Francisco Florez and his teammates as they recorded a 1-0 victory over Hunter in this year's final.
