Baruch men fall to Brandeis in Div. III opener
WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Baruch College men lost their NCAA Division III first round match to 11th-ranked Brandeis University, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats (11-6-1) dug themselves into a hole early by trailing 2-0 after 13 minutes, but they settled down the rest of the way.
Their attack could not find a hole in the Brandeis defense in Baruch’s third-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament.
Brandeis won the shot battle with a 20-6 margin and forced goalkeeper Helder Correia to make seven saves.
Oren Kozlowski led the Bearcats with two shots, while Nicholas Kolaj, Akil George, Christopher Peralta and Victor Tlepshev finished with one shot each.
Brandeis (17-2-1) advanced to the second round on Sunday at 5 p.m. to face the the winner of the second game of doubleheader match between Tufts University and Vassar College.
