FDU men win, reach NEC tourney again

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men clinched their fourth straight Northeast Conference Tournament behind a 3-0 win over Long Island University Saturday afternoon.

The three goals were a season-high for the Knights as they concluded their regular season.

FDU (10-4-3, 6-2-2) climbed into second place with 20 points. With conference matches to be played on Sunday, the final standings will not be known until after the completion of the game. LIU finished its season at 5-10-3, 3-6-1.

Junior Antony Moore started the scoring in the 38th minute with a goal from 10 yards on a pass from classmate Jack McVey. It was Moore's third goal of the season.

FDU put the game away with two goals in a span of three minutes. Moore found freshman Miguel Escobar on the left side in the 66th minute as his fourth goal of the season made it 2-0.

Three minutes later, freshman Nico Wright delivered a cross to McVey, who finished with his team-leading seventh goal this season.

FDU dominated the second half, attempting 11 shots to finish with 20. LIU managed only three in the second half to finish with nine.

The NEC Tournament play will begin on Friday.
