FDU men stun St. John's in opening round of NCAA Division I tournament

QUEENS, N.Y. -- Oh, what a night for the Knights.

Fairleigh University held off a late offensive by 18th-ranked St. John's to register a 1-0 upset in the opening round of the NCAA Division I men's tournament at Belson Stadium on Thursday night.

The Knights (10-5-6) advanced to the second round as they will meet Saint Louis University, eighth-seeded in the 48-team field, in the second round on Sunday.

The Red Storm finished their season at 10-5-4.

FDU scored in the first half.

Knights goalkeeper Jacob Lissek was solid, making two vital saves on a pair of bang-bang plays in the 87th minute as he recorded his 10th shutout of the season.
