Fairleigh Dickinson senior midfielder Jack McVey is one of five nominees for Big Apple Soccer Men’s College Player of the Year and a regional nominee for the Soccer News Net College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.

McVey, of Douglas, Isle of Man (St. Ninian’s/St. George’s AFC, NJ Rangers), earned his second straight All-NEC First Team nod, after leading the Knights in scoring for the second straight year and helping them to the No. 2 seed in the 2012 NEC Tournament. He scored five goals, including two game-winners, and handed out four assists for 14 points, a mark that ranked him ninth in the NEC. In the postseason, McVey’s double-overtime header lifted the Knights over favored St. Louis and into the NCAA Sweet 16.

Fan voting accounts for 40% of the total toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot. Voting for the College Boot and Big Apple Soccer Men’s College Player of the Year awards is open through December 23.
