Hofstra men blank Drexel, 1-0

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Chris Griebsch’s unassisted goal at 60:51 was all the Hofstra men needed as Roberto Pellegrini posted seven saves for his third shutout of the season in a 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association win over Drexel at rainy Vidas Field on Wednesday night.

Hofstra improved to 6-7, 3-4 in the CAA. Drexel drops to 3-9-2, 2-4-1 in league play.

Griebsch capitalized on a misplayed goal kick by the Dragons and rocketed a shot past Drexel keeper Pentti Pussinen for his third goal of the season.

Drexel controlled the play in the first half, holding a 9-4 shot advantage, but Pellegrini made four saves in the opening half and added three more in the second half as he stonewalled any attempt at a Drexel comeback. The Dragons finished the night with a 14-8 shot advantage.

Pussinen made three saves.

Hofstra plays at Old Dominion on Saturday night.
