Hofstra's Galton named CAA rookie of the week
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Hofstra freshman Leah Galton was named the Colonial Athletic Association's rookie of the week, the league announced on Monday.
Galton (Harrogate, England) earned her third rookie of the week award of the season, picking up her latest honor after scoring two goals against Northeastern in the regular-season finale on Wednesday. Galton played all 110 minutes in Hofstra's 2-2 effort against the Huskies in the CAA quarterfinals on Sunday. The Pride advanced on penalty kicks.
Galton was the conference's first rookie of the week of the season when she won the award on Aug. 20. She again earned the award on Oct. 24. Galton is second in the CAA in goals scored with 11. She leads Hofstra with 26 points.
The fifth-seeded Pride (10-8-1) will face top-seeded William and Mary in the CAA semifinal in Williamsburg, Va. on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
