Hofstra freshman F/M Leah Galton is one of four nominees for Big Apple Soccer Women’s College Player of the Year and a regional nominee for the Soccer News Net Women’s College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.
Galton was named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year and all-conference First Team selection after becoming one of the league’s top offensive threats in her first collegiate season. The Harrogate, England native (St. John Fishers School/Leeds United Ladies FC) led the Pride and ranked second in the CAA in goals (11) and points (27) during the regular season. Eight of her goals came in conference play, including multiple-goal performances against Georgia State, Delaware and Northeastern. Galton, who is the first Hofstra player to receive Rookie of the Year honors since Edel Malone in 2005, was also selected to the All-CAA rookie squad and the conference All-Tournament Team.
Fan voting accounts for 40% of the total toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot. Voting for the College Boot and Big Apple Soccer Women’s College Player of the Year award is open through December 15.
