Hofstra junior defender Shaun Foster is one of five nominees for Big Apple Soccer Men’s College Player of the Year and a regional nominee for the Soccer News Net College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.

Foster, from Southport, England (Stanley HS), was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Defensive Player of the Year, making conference history by becoming the first three-time winner of the award, and First Team All-Conference after leading a Hofstra defense that allowed only 21 goals in 19 contests and posted seven shutouts, including four in CAA play. Offensively, Foster contributed two goals and an assist. Both goals were game-winners. He also was honored as an NSCAA Third Team All-American.

Fan voting accounts for 40% of the total toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot. Voting for the College Boot and Big Apple Soccer Men’s College Player of the Year awards is open through December 23.
