Meet candidate LI senior forward Ariana Calderon and vote

LIU senior forward Ariana Calderon (Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis HS) racked up 10 goals and six assists this season to lead the Blackbirds to their third Northeast Conference title and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division I women's tournament.

She also is one of six nominees for Big Apple Soccer women’s college player of the year, and a regional nominee for the Soccer News Net Women’s College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.

Calderon broke the LIU career scoring record with two goals against Robert Morris on October 31, and finished the season with 69 career points, six clear of previous record-holder Larissa Swartzlander. She also is tied for the league career record in goals with 29. She was named to the All-NEC First Team, and was at the time of the honor second in the Conference in assists (6), and third in goals (9) and points (24).

Fan voting for the Soccer News Net College Boot and Big Apple Soccer college player of the year awards is open through December 23.
