Napolitano joins Rutgers coaching staff
Former Scarlet Knight standout Phil Napolitano has been hired as an assistant coach with the Rutgers men’s soccer program, head coach Bob Reasso announced Wednesday.

Rutgers University has added six more players to it recruiting class. Ibrahim Kamara (North Brunswick, N.J.), Robert McLarney (Londonderry, N.H.), Nye Winslow (Piscataway, N.J.), Adam Klink (Chesapeake, Va.), Jimmy Simon (Leavenworth, Kan.) and Marty Stern (Little Silver, N.J.) will continue their academic and athletic careers at Rutgers this fall.

Her right ankle has a bone bruise and likely ligament damage after a studs-up challenge at Notre Dame Saturday. The injury has been bad enough to keep Rutgers goalkeeper Erin Guthrie off the training field for the past three days. But it wasn't going to stop her from playing in a first-round Big East tournament game at St. John's. And when she made two critical saves in a penalty kick shootout and the Scarlet Knights advanced to the quarterfinals, setting up another date with Notre Dame, Guthrie could feel no pain. That is, until she was mobbed by her teammates.

Rutgers falls in OT again, 1-0
The Rutgers men's soccer team dropped a tightly-contested match by a score of 1-0 to Big East Red Division foe DePaul Saturday afternoon. The Blue Demon's Alex Mangan scored a game-winner with two minutes remaining in the final overtime period to earn the victory over the Scarlet Knights, which fell to 5-7-1, 3-4-0 in the Big East. DePaul is now 7-4-0 and 3-3-0 in the conference.

With a goal and an assist, senior forward Kevin O’Connor lifted the Rutgers men’s soccer team out of a one-goal deficit as the Scarlet Knights defeated instate foe NJIT Wednesday night at Yurcak Field. With the win Rutgers improved to 5-6-1 while NJIT fell to 1-9-1.

Barisic's first college goal lifts Rutgers
Sophomore Tomislav Barisic scored his first collegiate goal in the 85th to help lead the Rutgers men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over Syracuse Sunday at Yurcak Field. The Scarlet Knights improve to 4-6-1, 3-3 in the Big East while the Orange drop to 4-4-3 and 1-4 in the conference.

Rutgers loses late lead in OT loss
Senior Adam Sternberger scored in the 86th minute to give the Rutgers men's soccer team a one-goal lead. However, Villanova (responded with a goal of its own with just 19 seconds remaining in regulation as the 23rd-ranked Wildcats tied the game and posted a game-winner in overtime to defeat the Scarlet Knights, 2-1, Wednesday at Yurcak Field.

Rutgers edges Georgetown, 1-0
Kristie Lang scored her third goal of the season in the second half to give the Scarlet Knights a 2-1 victory over Georgetown Sunday. On the game winning goal, Gina DeMaio made a nice move to get away from the defender and kicked the ball into the box, where Lang was able to gather it and drill it into the net.

The Rutgers women's soccer team returned to Big East play with a 0-0 draw against Villanova. The Scarlet Knights (5-3-1, 0-1-1) were led by sophomore goalie Erin Guthrie, who had four saves. The Wildcats (7-0-3, 1-0-1) were up to the task though, as senior goalie Jillian Loyden saved five shots.

Freshman Dilly Duka scored his second goal in as many games as the Rutgers men’s soccer team defeated Georgetown Friday afternoon at North Kehoe Field.

Rutgers falls to No. 3 ND on national TV
The Rutgers men’s soccer team lost in its Big East opener, 2-0, to third-ranked Notre Dame Friday in front of a capacity crowd at Yurcak Field. The bleachers were filled with a sea of red as 6,309 spectators came out to support the Scarlet Knights in their nationally-televised clash on the Fox Soccer Channel. The overflow crowd even spilled into a standing-room only section on the opposite side on the field across from the main bleachers.
