Hall's Greene scores in UConn upset

Seton Hall freshman midfielder Kai Greene, who scored the first goal of his career in the 1-0 upset of No. 3 Connecticut on Sunday, was named the SoccerSavings.com/BigAppleSoccer.com men's college player of the week on Monday.

Greene was honored for the week ending on Sunday, Oct. 30.

The South Orange, N.J. scored the lone goal of the match for the Pirates (5-10-2, 1-7-0), who snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Huskies (14-2-2, 5-2-2).

Greene tallied in the 20th minute. Max Garcia intercepted and clearing attempt and dribbled into the goal box. He slipped a pass to Greene in the middle and his strike went in through the upper left corner.

In a rare double honor to the same school in the same week, Hall senior Ashley Beamish was selected as the SoccerSavings.com/BigAppleSoccer.com women's college player of the week.

The Pirates will wrap up their season at Notre Dame at noon on Monday.
