Stony Brook men to host Binghamton Saturday, cancel Tuesday's trip to West Virginia

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men have clinched the No. 3 seed in the America East Championship and will host sixth-seed Binghamton in the quarterfinals at LaValle Stadium Saturday at noon.

In addition, due to weather conditions related to Hurricane Sandy, Stony Brook has canceled its trip to West Virginia for what was scheduled to be a non-conference game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Seawolves finished the regular season with a 4-3-0 America East record to finish at least third in the standings for the fourth consecutive season. They look to defend their conference championship, which they won as the No. 2 seed in 2011.

Stony Brook is 5-0-2 in home playoff games. In both ties, the team advanced via penalty kicks. The Seawolves defeated the Bearcats in the regular season on Oct. 10, 2-1 at Binghamton.

The winner of Saturday's quarterfinal will advance to play at No. 2 seed UMBC Wednesday Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. The final is scheduled for either Saturday, Nov. 10 or Sunday, Nov. 11.

Tickets for Saturday's America East Championship quarterfinal are $8 for adults, $5 for youths (ages 14 & under) and $2 for America East member institution students. Stony Brook students can enter for free (courtesy of Stony Brook Athletics) using their student ID card. For ticket information, call (631) 632-WOLF.
