Grella helps Scunthorpe rally in Cup win

Forward Mike Grella scored for Scunthorpe United in its comeback win over host Derby County in the Capital One Cup second-round game on Tuesday night.

Scunthorpe rallied from deficits of 3-0 and 4-1 to tie in regulation, 5-5, and force extratime and eventually the penalty-kick shootout. The visitors prevailed in the tie-breaker, 7-6.

The Glen Cove, N.Y. native tallied in the second half in the wild encounter, but missed his penalty kick in the shootout.

Grella was named the BigAppleSoccer.com male youth player of the year in 2004.

Scunthorpe plays in League One, which is the third tier of English professional soccer.
