Gaudette standsout in Puerto Rico's 2-1 loss to Spain

BAYAMON, Puerto Rico -- Santi Cazorla and Cesc Fabregas scored in the first half for World Cup chamions Spain en route to a 2-1 victory over Puerto Rico in an international friendly on Wednesday night.

The game pit the top-ranked team in the world against Puerto Rico, which is ranked No. 138.

It was Spain's first game since it won Euro 2012.

Cazorla, who will play for Arsenal (England) this season, tallied in the 42nd minute and Fabregas found the back of the net three minutes later, putting home a low volley past New York Red Bulls goalkeeper Bill Gaudette.

Puerto Rico's Marc Cintron cut the lead in half in the 64th minute, putting the ball past goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

The Spaniards dominated the match, but could only find the back of the net twice.

Gaudette made two vital saves in the opening half, the first on a Fernando Torres header that was sailing toward the corner before parrying a Cazorla shot out of harm's way.
