SECOND ONLY TO ONE
Altidore strikes again for 15th goal for AZ

Jozy Altidore continued to put his best foot forward for AZ Alkmaar on Friday, scoring his team-high 15th goal in a 4-1 away victory over struggling VVV-Venlo.

AZ won for the third time in four Eredivisie encounters as it moved into the top nine teams in the league. Venlo dropped its third consecutive match.

Making a push to remind U.S. national coach Juergen Klinsmann he should be on the team for World Cup qualifying, the former Red Bulls striker scored a classy goal to give the visitors a 3-1 advantage in the 62nd minute.

The goal moved Altidore a goal behind Wilfried Bony, who has scored a league-best 16 goals for Vitesse Arnhem.

Adam Maher gave AZ the lead in the 27th minute but the hosts knotted things up by a Uche Nwofor goal in the 52nd minute.

AZ struck for three goals within an 11-minute span as Donny Gorter converted a penalty kick in the 55th minute as it took the lead for good, Altidore tallied in the 62nd minute and Etienne Reijnen closed out the scoring in the 66th minute.
