Report: O'Brien signs with Danish champions
Mt. Sinai, N.Y. native and central midfielder Conor O'Brien is on the move again in Denmark.
The 24-year-old has signed a contract with with Danish champion FC Nordsjaelland, American Soccer News reported on Tuesday.
Second-place Nordsjaelland is 12 points behind leaders Copenhagen.
O'Brien, who captained the TerryVille Fire to the U.S. Youth Soccer Under-18 title in 2007, most recently performed with Sonderjyske. His contract with that Danish club ended ended in December.
"Conor has signed a two-year contract with Nordsjaelland," agent Allan Bak Janssen told American Soccer News. "It was his first choice all along, but there was a lot of interest."
O'Brien also has played for Blokus in the Danish Second Division, helped the team achive promotion.
A standout at Bucknell University, O'Brien is a graduate of St. Anthony's High School. He also was named BigAppleSoccer.com's male youth player of the year in 2007.
