MAN UNITED ROSTER SET
Chicharito will arrive late
NEW YORK – English Premier League champion Manchester United announced today its provisional travel roster for their five-game tour of the United States this summer, which includes the 2011 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, at Red Bull Arena on July 27.
Led by manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the list of international standouts includes English national team stars Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, speedy Portuguese winger Nani, Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, team captain Nemanja Vidic of Serbia, Korean international midfielder Ji-Sung Park, Brazilian twins Fabio and Rafael, and French international defender Patrice Evra.
A few players, including Mexican international Javier (Chicharito) Hernandez, will join the club in the United States during the tour after their agreed leave time.
Scottish midfielder Darren Fletcher will miss the U.S. tour as he still recovers from a virus that hampered him all last season.
Following their U.S. tour, the Red Devils will play the New York Cosmos in Paul Scholes Testimonial Match on August 5 at Old Trafford. The Cosmos roster will be made up of invited guest players. The Charity Shield follows two days later, with the Barclays Premier League opener on July 13 against West Bromwich Albion.
The U.S. tour is the second in as many years for United, who also faced the MLS All-Stars last season.
