JUVE SETS ROSTER
Del Piero, Buffon, Pirlo coming to NY
FLUSHING, N.Y., July 18, 2011 – Juventus F.C., the record 29 time Serie A champions, announced its roster for its Herbalife World Football Challenge 2011 match against Club America at Citi Field Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m.
The game will feature Juventus’ 2006 FIFA World Cup Winners including Alessandro Del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo, Andrea Barzagli, Luca Toni and present Italian National Team stars Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Claudio Marchisio, Simone Pepe, Fabio Quagliarella and Alessandro Matri.
Turin-based Juventus was founded in 1897 and is one of the most successful and recognized teams not only in Italy, but the entire world. According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, an organization recognized by FIFA, Juventus was Italy's best club of the 20th century and the second most successful European club in the same period. Overall, the club has won 51 official competitions, more than any other team in Italy; 40 in the national First Division, which is also a record, and 11 in UEFA and world competitions.
The Herbalife World Football Challenge, which runs from July 13 to August 6, involves five MLS clubs and European giants Manchester United, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City as well as famed Mexican clubs Chivas de Guadalajara and Club America in cities across North America.
