CARSON, Calif.---Manchester City defeated the Los Angeles Galaxy 7-6 in penalty kicks after the two teams played to a 1-1 draw at The Home Depot Center Sunday.
The game was decided with Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart scoring on the final penalty kick. World Football Challenge rules require a winner for standings purposes.
Mario Balotelli gave Manchester City the lead in the 20th minute, after Micha Richards was taken down from behind by Bryan Jordan, setting up a penalty kick.
In the 63rd minute, Mike Magee came up with the equalizer. After a long ball across the field from out of the midfield, Chris Birchall headed it from the far right side back toward the center, where Magee launched a 22 yard volley over Hart and into the upper left corner of the net.
