Juan Agudelo would love to play in Europe or in Scotland.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon would love to begin talks about the former Red Bulls forward making a permanent move to the Scottish Premier League club.

But don't tell that to Chivas USA, which says it is not interested in transferring the 20-year-old Agudelo anywhere at the moment.

“For us, the club, the organisation, Juan Agudelo is just keeping fit training with Celtic and that’s it," Chivas USA spokesman Rodrigo Ochoa told the Scottish Sun on Tuesday.

“There are no plans for the club to take any kind of transfer. He’s taking advantage of the vacation time that we have right now and he’s training and keeping himself fit.”

Agudelo's contract has one year remaining.

Several days ago, Agudelo told STV that he would love to play for Celtic if a deal could be completed.

He told STV that it was "definitely something I thought of as soon as I heard the word Celtic. I know the history. It’s basically a religion for many.

“Just to have that there and have the support of the whole city would be lovely. Especially due to the fact they are consistently Champions League. Being in the group stage of the Champions League is huge.

“This kind of move has been on my mind for as long as I can remember playing soccer. Going and playing in Europe is what I would like to do. This is, right now, where the best football is being played. I would love to play here.”

Lennon told BBC Sport that he had been quite impressed with Agudelo.

"He has looked very good, we have been very impressed with him," he said. "We are hoping he will stay around for a few more days and we can talk with his representatives."

"I haven't had the chance to sit down with everyone and discuss it but myself and my backroom team have been very impressed."
