IN DENIAL
Man City says MLS NYC reports are untrue
Manchester City denied it was in talks to purchase a Major League Soccer expansion franchise in New York City.
The club issues a brief one sentence statement on Saturday denying the reports first published by Bloomberg News.
Manchester City are not buying an MLS club," said City in the statement.
The statement came just a day after the club reported losses of £97.9 million ($158.3 million), despite having revenues of £231.1million ($373.7 million).
The second New York area franchise is expected to cost upwards of $100 million plus an investment in the proposed $300 million stadium which MLS wants to build in Flushing Meadows.
