After getting just about no playing time with the Red Bulls last season, Jhonny Arteaga has decided to go west -- to Western Pennsylvania.

The former USL PRO scoring champion on Friday signed with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

His signing is pending U.S. Soccer approval.

"I'm really happy with this signing," Riverhounds coach Justin Evans said in a statement. " believe a player with Jhonny's ability in the attacking third will prove to be a massive piece of our 2013 campaign. I'm very pleased that we were able to agree on this multi-year deal and I’m eager to see how he jells with the other players that we have put together this off-season."

As a member of F.C. New York in 2011, Arteaga scored a league-best 13 goals in 21 games.

"I am really excited to join the Pittsburgh Riverhounds," Arteaga said. "It is a great opportunity to be a part of this new project the Club has put together and I look forward to a successful season. With all the previous experiences in my career including those in the USL PRO and in the MLS, with the NY Red Bulls, I am looking forward to contributing to the organization as we work towards bringing a championship to Pittsburgh."

Arteaga, 26, made only five appearances with the Red Bulls in 2012, playing 17 minutes.

The Riverhounds open their USL PRO season at Richmond on April 6.
