For the first time in his coaching career, Paul Riley will direct a team far from the east coast. Paul Riley is about to add another stop on his coaching resume. The veteran women's coach is expected to be named coach of the Portland Thorns this week, perhaps as early as today, according to sources within the Women's Professional Soccer League.

Paul Riley has been told he will not be English women's national coach. Paul Riley is out of the running for the English national women's coaching job. The former Philadelphia Independence coach and Women's Professional Soccer coach of the year was told by the English Football Association was not in consideration for the job.

Paul Riley: "I look forward to coaching on the international stage. I think it would be a great step forward at this point." Late last month Paul Riley went back home to England for some pleasure -- to watch his beloved Liverpool team play Notts County to a 2-2 draw in the English Premier League. When he returns to his native land next week, it will be for strictly business -- to state his case on why he should be the coach of the England women's National Team.
