Cabrera, Caffrey named Rapids assistants
Former Long Island Rough Riders defender and B.W. Gottschee coach Wilmer Cabrera was named an assistant coach to the Colorado Rapids on Tuesday. Cabrera, also a former Colombian international who recently turned down an offer to continue as U.S. Under-17 national coach, joined the Major League Soccer team along with his former assistant at U-17 residency camp Paul Caffrey.

PPL Park to host MLS All-Stars
PHILADELPHIA---Philadelphia, or more specifically, Chester,Pa. will host the Major League Soccer All-Star Game on July 25. MLS Commissioner Don Garber made the announcement that the league's stars and an as yet unnamed opponent will play at PPL Park during a press conference at Philadelphia City Hall.

MANHATTAN BOUND?
Garber wants a stadium in Manhattan for potential MLS expansion team
If he had his way, MLS commissioner Don Garber would have that second New York City area team based in Manhattan. Speaking about that possibility for the first time at the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday, Garber said his first priority would be a stadium in Manhattan. He added that a pricetage for the franchise would be in the $100 million range.

Some interesting tidbits about NASLdrafts
The last North American Soccer League draft took place more than two decades ago, which is just about a generation in the past. Due to the process of Americanization of the league, in which teams originally were required to have at least one U.S. player -- native or naturalized -- in the lineup at all times, it certainly made for some, ahem, interesting drafts.
