PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RSL's Wingert wins it

Real Salt Lake defender Chris Wingert, who played the entire 120 minutes of his team's MLS Cup triumph Sunday, was named the BigAppleSoccer.com player of the week.

The Babylon, N.Y. native was honored for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 22.

Wingert played well during the 120 minutes of regulation and extratime for RSL against the Los Angeles Galaxy at Qwest Field in Seattle Sunday. The teams played to a 1-1 tie before the game was decided in a penalty-kick shootout, 5-4. Wingert, the 2003 Hermann Trophy winner while a standout midfielder at St. John's, converted one of the penalties for RSL.

The honor was the second for Wingert in three weeks. He was selected as BAS player of the week Nov. 9.

There was no goal of the week winner named.
