February 9, 2010 WOUNDED KNEE Galaxy's Mathis out 4-6 weeks
The third time with the Los Angeles Galaxy for former Red Bulls midfielder Clint Mathis has not exactly been the charm.
Mathis underwent surgery last Friday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee that he suffered in training. His injury wasn't announced until Monday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Mathis is expected to be sidelined from four to six weeks, although he could be ready for the Galaxy's season-opener against the New England Revolution March 27.
The operation was performed at the Surgery Center of the Pacific in Santa Monica last week.
Mathis returned to the Galaxy in a trade with MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake.
