Professional and international soccer returned to New York City in 2011, specificially Queens. After a year's delay, F.C. New York made its debut in USL PRO and Citi Field was the venue for not one, but two international friendlies. FCNY called Belson Stadium on the campus of St. John's University home.

Lancers hold off Silver Knights, 22-13
Andrew Hoxie and Mauricio Salles each recorded five points and new signing and goalkeeper Patrick Hannigan some solid play to lead the Rochester Lancers to a 22-13 victory over their rival, the Syracuse Silver Knights, their first Major Indoor Soccer League win, at the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday night.

Comets give Lancers a lesson or two in home opener
The Missouri Comets gave the Rochester Lancers a lesson in indoor soccer on Saturday. The classroom happened to be the Blue Cross Arena, where a crowd of 6,528 watched the Comets teach the Lancers a thing or two en route to a 13-4 win in their franchise home opener in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
