Islanders, Gaudette ousted from USL semis

BAYAMON, Puerto Rico -- Despite another stellar game by former St. John's goalkeeper Bill Gaudette, the Puerto Rico Islanders were eliminated from the United Soccer League First Division playoffs Sunday night.

The Islanders were defeated by the Montreal Impact, 2-1, in the second game of the semifinal total-goals series. They were eliminated on aggregate, 2-1.

Montreal will play the Vancouver Whitecaps in an all-Canadian final series. The Whitecaps prevailed over the Portland Timbers, 5-4, in total goals after a 3-3 draw Sunday.
