Ex-national keeper says GK change had 'adverse effect on the team'
It seemed everyone and their cousin, however unqualified they might be, had an opinion about the U.S. National Team's performance at the Women's World Cup and the Hope Solo incident. Of course, few observers have the perspective that that Kim Wyant has as a former U.S. National Team goalkeeper -- the first, actually. In an e-mail interview, Wyant wrote that Solo should have remained in the lineup, Scurry's reputation might have been sullied and that the change "had an adverse effect on the team."

U.S. women to receive $10,000 apiece
Besides their pride, the American women were playing for some money as well at the Women's World Cup.. U.S. Soccer had agreed to pay each player $10,000 to finish third, but not a cent to take fourth.
