Abby Wambach’s homecoming to Rochester will be televised. Fox Soccer Channel added the Western New York Flash-MagicJack game game to its broadcast schedule. It will be televised from Sahlen Stadium in Rochester, N.Y. at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

From her house on the Jersey shore, several thousand miles away from the action in Germany, Kim Wyant watches the United States in the Women's World Cup with awe, excitement and pride. There are not many people in the U.S. if not this planet who has a unique perspective on the Americans. Wyant played in the first women's international game in U.S. soccer history and became one of the best goalkeepers in the country.

After she had won it for the United States, Brandi Chastain admitted she had lost it. Seconds after connecting for the game-winning goal in the penalty-kick tie-breaker against China, Chastain ripped off her shirt and whipped it around in celebration at the Rose Bowl.

When the U.S. women won in 1991
It was an incredible sight, something U.S. soccer officials had dreamed about for years. Amid a huge fireworks display, the medals and trophies were handed out to the winners and finally, they took a well-deserved victory lap around the stadium. The U.S. Women's National Team was on the receiving end of those honors on Nov. 30, 1991 after defeating Norway, 2-1, to capture the first Women's World Cup. In the process, the Americans became the first American team to win a FIFA-sponsored tournament.
