Wilmer Cabrera will bring the U.S. U-17 team to Red Bull Arena for the soft opening of the soccer-specific stadium Saturday.

During the 28th annual LIJSL convention held at the Huntington Hilton in Melville, N.Y. last weekend, Long Island Junior Soccer League families donated 250 lbs. of food to Long Island Cares -- The Harry Chapin Food Bank and 300 soccer cleats for children in Haiti, including two with handwritten letters.

U.S. team cries along with Haiti goalkeeper
The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team opened the CONCACAF U-17 Women’s Championships with a 9-0 victory against Haiti as forward Lindsey Horan led the team with four goals and two assists. While the United States scored several artistic goals, the most amazing moment from the game came after the final whistle as Haitian goalkeeper Alexandra Coby slumped to the turf in tears.
