Gottschee beats NJSA in Academy action

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- B.W. Gottschee won its Under-16 and U-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy games with approximately 30 college coaches watching the action at Aviator Sports Complex Saturday.

The Gottschee U-16 team, led by program head coach Dieter Ficken, defeating NJSA 04, 1-0. NJSA is coached by former U.S. National Team and MetroStars midfielder Tab Ramos. Gottschee scored in the ninth minute when Osvaldo Torres sent in a cross that Christian Johnson headed home.

The U-18 side, coached by David McCarthy, had an easier time, scoring two goals in the first half en route to a 4-0 win. Juan Chang and Winston Lyons provided the firepower. Gottschee added two goals in the second half with Gregory Davis and Glenn Whelan doing the work.

U.S. U-17 international and former Gottschee standout Dominick Sarle, back from the U-17 World Cup in Nigeria visited the team.

Gottschee travels to New Jersey to play Match Fit Academy this weekend.
