COSMOS RETURN
Midfielder David Diosa re-signs with team

The New York Cosmos have re-signed midfielder David Diosa, the team announced Saturday.

“We are pleased to bring yet another player from our 2016 roster,” Cosmos coach Giovanni Savarese said. “David not only had a tremendous season last year, but also made a positive impact on the rest of the team. Securing a player from our re-boot season like David speaks highly of our commitment to providing local talent an opportunity to grow professionally and help the team evolve.”

Diosa began his career with the Cosmos in 2010, playing for the Cosmos Academy U-18 and U-23 teams, before signing a professional contract in 2013. Diosa, 24, a Colombia native, had a career-high three goals and three assists last season.

“I’m thrilled to rejoin my home team,” Diosa said. “Even though I left for a couple of months, I always hoped to be able to return and play in front of my family and friends, as well as the supporters who have given so much to the team.”
