MIXED BAG OF RESULTS
Italians, Rough Riders gain in Open Cup, G-A Atlas, Boca are eliminated

The Brooklyn Italians reached the second round of the Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup.

Area teams went 2-2 in the first round of the Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night.
The Brooklyn Italians and Long Island Rough Riders emerged as winners and N.Y. Greek-American Atlas and Jersey Shore Boca dropped their matches.
The Italians and Rough Riders advanced to the second round, which will be held on Tuesday, May 22. Brooklyn is slated to visit Rochester Rhinos (USL PRO).
A quick rundown of results:
Brooklyn Italians 3, GPS Portland Phoenix 2
The visitors grabbed a three-goal advantage and withstood a rally in the rain on Memorial Field at Deering High School in Portland, Me.
Long Island Rough Riders 2, FC Sonic 0
The Premier Development League team won at Whitehall High School in Whiteball, Pa.
The Rough Riders will take on the Harrisburg City Islanders at the Skyline Sports Complex next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Reading United 2, N.Y. Greek-American Atlas 1
Pedro Ribeiro scored in the 37th minute and Olutolani Ibikunle added a much-needed insurance goal in the 55th minute to power Reading over the G-A Atla at Fleetwood Area High School in Fleetwood, Pa.
The visitors tallied in the 64th minute.
The game was suspended for 75 minutes in the 66th minute due to severe weather.
Reading will play the Charleston Battery (USL PRO) at Blackbaud Stadium next Tuesday.
Michigan Bucks 6, Jersey Shore Boca 0
It was no contest in Pontiac, Mich. as the Toms River, N.J. team was eliminated.
